Maria Sharapova has accepted a wildcard invitation to compete at the China Open in October.
The five-time Grand Slam champion, who won the China event in 2014 and also made the final in 2012, will be making her seventh appearance at the tournament.
Wimbledon champion Garbiñe Muguruza, Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Zhang Shuai and Peng Shuai will also take part in the Beijing event, which runs from September 24 to October 8.
The Russian returned from eight weeks out at the Bank of the West Classic last week having missed Wimbledon and the entire grass-court season with a thigh injury, but withdrew from the Stanford event after her first-round victory over Jennifer Brady, citing an arm injury.
The former World No.1 was also scheduled to play at the Rogers Cup in Toronto this week but withdrew with the same injury.
"Hello, my SharaFamily in China. I’m very happy to announce that I will return to Beijing and play the China Open this October," the 30-year-old said in a statement. "This is especially exciting as it will be my first tournament in Asia this year!
"Whenever I play in Beijing, my SharaFamily always shows me such great support. I will never forget the last time I won the title in 2014, and how much you cheered for me on the Diamond Court. I am so grateful for your support, and look forward to seeing you soon."
