A seven-day traffic rush across China is coming to an end as the National Day holiday, also known as the "Golden Week," concluded on Tuesday.

A total of 8.15 million trips were made by plane in the past seven days, according to the Civil Aviation Administration. A record was made on Oct. 1 when 1.25 million people took planes on a single day.

During the Golden Week, road trips reached 630 million nationwide and waterway trips stood at 14.14 million, up 4.6 percent and 3.1 percent year on year respectively, said the Ministry of Transport.

The China Railway Corporation mobilized temporary trains to cope with the traffic peak and the railway across China carried about 68 million passengers in the whole holiday.

The National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to 7 has become an annual tourism event for Chinese people, who are increasingly well-off and willing to spend more on leisure and entertainment.
