China-India ties are currently in a critical period and mutual trust is important for the development of the relationship, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said when he met with Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.

The two ministers met on the sidelines of the 15th Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, India and China (RIC) that took place in India.

Talking about the Indian standoff with China in the border region of Donglang (Doklam), Wang said it was a big challenge for bilateral ties, but he added that the resolution shows bilateral relations have become more and more mature.

We should learn from it to avoid it happening again, said Wang.
