China gifts IT equipment to Pakistan’s parliament

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 21 (APD) -- Chinese government on Thursday gifted latest IT equipment to the Pakistan's Parliament as a gesture of friendship in order to promote the bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

Sun Weidong (2nd, R), the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, is signing a handover certificate about the IT equipment gifted by the Chinese government to Pakistan’s Parliament in Islamabad.

The gift package was sent by Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, to express the friendly sentiment from Chinese People to Pakistani People, and to further consolidate our traditional mutual relationship.

During his visit to Pakistan in April this year, Yu Zhengsheng promised to Raza Rabbani, Chairman of Pakistan Senate (the Upper House) of Pakistan, to provide the parliament with modern equipment.

Sun Weidong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, handed over the equipment to the officials of the Pakistan’s Parliament at a ceremony in the country’s capital of Islamabad.

The 330 items of equipment include tablets, laptops, all-in-one computers, scanners, printers, and projectors.

Sun Weidong said Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is willing to enhance exchanges with the Pakistani side, boost bilateral cooperation in multiple areas, promote all sectors of society to offer advice and suggestions on improving bilateral cooperation, and to make contributions to the economic and social development of the two countries.

Chinese ambassador said that to further deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation, advancing and expanding the exchange between Chinese side and the Senate and National Assembly (the lower house) of Pakistan is of great importance.

Addressing on the occasion, Chairman Senate said the gift will help in modernizing the IT department of the parliament and its means of communication.

“This warm gesture of brotherhood would be remembered for a long time. Our friendship is unique, it is a friendship which reflects the respect for one another,” said Rabbani, adding that the exchanges between two parliaments will further strengthen the friendship and help transfer it to next generations.
