In nearly all of our daily lives, the virtual is winning the race against the actual.

"We are living in an era of data explosions," says Chen Liming, Chairman of IBM Great China Group. "And without proper data to support this era, there’s no way we can further progress."

And as the data progresses along with China’s constantly evolving digital age, tech companies are saying that human trends will provide all the direction.

IT and networking world leader Cisco’s improved networking strategies will help safeguard Internet privacy. Amazon’s focus on cross-border e-commerce will help new products reach new Chinese users. And at IBM’s consumer center in Beijing, experts say the focus looking ahead should not only be about making technology better, but more human, or more cognitive.

"We use the term cognitive technology because the computer in the future will have some element of human being characteristics," said Chen. "Understanding, reasoning, learning."

Artificial intelligence is becoming more common in the latest tech, as well as cloud computing. This is part of the reason when experts say, the future won't make us more like our devices, but our devices more like us.

"The system itself will be able to understand," added Chen. "And it will also be able to interact with people."

AI technology will be applied in various fields such as driverless technology.

Companies like IBM, Microsoft and others have much to gain by making China even more technology-savvy. Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent calls for further Internet integration reflect his vision to bolster China's economic and manufacturing potential. Chen said that the data solutions on the way will create unlimited opportunities in nearly all Chinese sectors.

"Government data, education data, utility data, energy data, medical data, all the data. It’s a time of opportunity, you know, for everybody."
