KUNMING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Yang Yanchi, head of the health bureau of Dali City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, was dismissed over intercepting a batch of masks, according to local authorities Thursday.

The masks were supposed to belong to southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, and were intercepted and requisitioned when they were transported via Dali City.

Fang Hu, head of the city's bureau of industry, information and technology, received administrative demerits.

The city has been compensating for the loss of Chongqing since some of the masks were used.

The Dali city government sincerely apologized for the incident and will properly handle the aftermath of the requisitioned masks, said Du Shugan, mayor of the city.
