China's Guiyang, Italy's Vicenza to become sister cities

Authorities have begun procedures to establish sister-city relations between Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, and the city of Vicenza in Italy.

The two cities will forge ahead with cooperation in various fields during the process.

In March, a batch of medical donations from Guiyang arrived in the city of Vicenza to aid the fight against COVID-19. The supplies included 40,000 surgical masks, 5,000 pairs of medical gloves and 1,000 pairs of goggles.

The mayor of Vicenza expressed gratitude via a letter in April, and suggested beginning procedures to help Guiyang and Vicenza become sister cities.

Guiyang and Vicenza began friendly visits in 2018 and signed a memorandum of cooperation. A joint work team was established in May 2019 in regard to the friendly exchanges between the two cities.

The two sides plan to further cooperation in fields such as education, culture, tourism and manufacturing.
