Local officials and business representatives attend a symposium focusing on the pharmaceutical and medical trade industry held in Xindu district of Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Sept 2.
Xindu district in Chengdu of southwest China's Sichuan province is being hailed as a sound hub for developing and strengthening the healthcare industry.
"Currently, the pharmaceutical and medical trade industry in Xindu is showing characteristics of good development momentum, strong enterprise confidence, excellent industrial ecology, rapid project attraction, strong regional linkage and significant overall contribution," Wang Zhongcheng, Party secretary of Xindu district told a symposium held on Sept 2.
The pharmaceutical and medical trade industry is one of the district's pillars, Wang said, adding that the local government has always attached great importance to its development. He called for the district to seize new breakthroughs to create a unique industrial ecosystem in the province and city.
Focusing on the construction of a robust industry of the pharmaceutical and medical trade, the symposium invited representatives of leading enterprises in Xindu district to explore new market environments and participate in in-depth discussions and exchanges examining industry expectations, development trends and other related topics.
Kelun, a representative local pharmaceutical enterprise, is the first company in Xindu district with a production output value exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.41 billion), and is ranked in the top three in China's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
Employees of Kelun inspect equipment at the company's automated pharmaceutical workshop.
Liu Wenjun, general manager of Kelu, said the company will continue to play a leading role in promoting development of the industry by implementing comprehensive technological transformation, enhancing production capacity and improving its development level and market competitiveness.
Zhai Jiangang, the legal representative of China Resources Kelun Pharmaceutical (Sichuan), said: "Our company has developed well in Xindu district, and the government has provided us with a lot of support in project construction. It is hoped the local government can provide greater support in project matching, guaranteeing human resources, improving network signals and public transportation."
Wu Xiaohong, chairman of JY Group Sichuan, a pharmaceutical business, said: "Since we settled in Xindu district, we have always felt the attention and support from the government departments. JY will continue to be dedicated to contributing to construction of the second phase of the Chengdu medical and trade building and work on attracting investment, helping generate new strengths to the economic development of Xindu district."
In response to the Healthy China Initiative and the development plan of strategic emerging industries, Xindu attaches great importance to the current situation and advantages of its healthcare industry. With the Chengdu medical and trade building as the center, it has invested 4.95 billion yuan to establish eight medical and trade supply chain bases connected to Shibantan in the east-west direction and Xinfan in the north-south direction.
Xindu has introduced industry leader Kelun as a key enterprise in the national industrial chain and the benchmark "chain master" enterprise in the city's "four chains" integration plan. The district has also progressed smoothly with construction of the 3-billion-yuan headquarters of Kelun's base, completion of the Yunjiyaoye first phase project and the China Resources Kelun headquarters project.
