Police investigating Australian university security threat

The University of New South Wales, Australia, issued a security warning on Monday in response to threats made against staff and students at its Kensington campus in suburban Sydney.

The treat is reportedly non-specific and comes from an post by an anonymous user on the website 4Chan threatening a campus shooting.

The university, which educates a large number of foreign students, is liaising with local police and the anti-terror and security group.

New South Wales police believe the threat is not genuine, however they are taking it seriously.

"Police are working with the university regarding this matter, and will be at the facility throughout the day," a police spokesperson said in a statement.
