British MPs on Thursday agreed to put Prime Minister Boris Johnson under investigation to determine whether he lied to parliament over lockdown-breaking parties at his Downing Street office.

Last week, Johnson was fined alongside his wife and the Chancellor Rishi Sunak for breaking COVID-19 rules by attending an event in Downing Street to celebrate his birthday.

The PM previously told MPs that laws were not broken in Downing Street.

Ahead of Thursday decision, Johnson said he had "no concerns" about the committee investigation.

Speaking during a trip to India, he said "if the opposition want to focus on this and talk about it a lot more that's fine."
