Uber loses license to operate in London

Uber’s license to operate in London will not be renewed when it expires on September 30, local transport authorities announced on Friday, citing safety reasons.

The ride-hailing service has the right to appeal the decision within three weeks.

"Transport for London has concluded that Uber London Limited is not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence," London transport authorities said in a statement.
