A central government spokesperson on Monday said the latest judgment in Hong Kong pertaining to the anti-mask regulation is conducive to dealing with the city's emergencies and situations that endanger public safety.

The judgment, which was handed down by the Court of Appeal of the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Thursday, upholds the constitutionality of invoking Hong Kong's Emergency Regulations Ordinance to enact the Prohibition on Face Covering Regulation.

The judgment will help effectively end violence and chaos and maintain social order, said a spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
