Police in east China's Shandong Province have started investigating a woman who concealed her travel history during her diagnosis and was eventually revealed to be infected with the novel coronavirus.

Over 100 close contacts of the woman have been isolated for medical observation, including 68 medical staff, according to the public security bureau in the city of Weifang.

The patient, surnamed Zhang, received treatment in a local hospital for coughing and headache on Jan. 21 and was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus on Feb. 2.

During her diagnosis, she failed to report her visit to the city of Bengbu in neighboring Anhui Province from Jan. 17 to 20, as well as her close contacts, according to local police.

Police are investigating her for endangering public safety.
