“Deeply moved by the example of an anonymous Pakistani who walked into Turkish embassy in the US and donated $30m for earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria,” Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif tweeted. “These are such glorious acts of philanthropy that enable humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds,” he added.

More than 33,000 people have died across Turkey and Syria since a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck on Monday, as hopes of rescuing more survivors dwindle amid freezing conditions. The death toll in Turkey has climbed to 29,605, the Turkish Emergency Coordination Center SAKOM said Sunday. In Syria, the total number of deaths stands at 3,576, including 2,168 in rebel-held areas in the northwest, according to the “White Helmets” civil defense group, and 1,408 deaths in government-controlled parts of Syria, according to Syrian state media citing the health ministry on Saturday.

Natural disasters like Floods, Fires, Volcanos, Tsunamis, Drought, Heat Waves, Cold Waves, Storms, Pandemics, etc., are part of humankind and various nations and countries that have been passing similar experiences on and off. However, in recent history, such disasters have increased in frequency and intensity. Causalities and damages are more serious and matters of deep concern.

The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program, or HAARP, is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the properties and behavior of the ionosphere. "The ionosphere stretches roughly 50 to 400 miles above Earth's surface, right at the edge of space. Along with the neutral upper atmosphere, the ionosphere forms the boundary between Earth's lower atmosphere — where we live and breathe — and the vacuum of space."

Technologies have been developed to stage that artificial earthquakes can be managed in certain areas and are being used as a weapon of mass destruction to political rivals. It is also part of Hybrid war or cyber warfare or 5th generation of warfare. Unfortunately, only a few advanced countries have this technology and may have been used as a weapon.

Experts also doubt that the US is behind the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Similarly, Iran and Pakistan are on target too. Rumors are circulating in the media that Pakistan may also face a similar situation in near future.

Scientific and technological advancement is a good phenomenon as long as it serves humankind for social and economic development. While it is being used in weapons and used for the destruction of humankind is condensable.

China has gained high achievements in Science and technology, but, has been used in agriculture, industry, health, environment, etc. The rapid development of China was due to rapid developments in S&T in China. Of course, China may have used high-tech in self-defense, but focused on socioeconomic developments.

Few nations have used all their energies and achievements of S&T for developing weapons to counter their adversaries and maintain their supremacy for longer. When their hegemony is challenged, they develop new technologies to contain, counter and overcome their rivals.

If it proved that the US is behind recent earthquakes, it must be condemned strongly and the UN must be asked to take appropriate legislations to prevent such actions. Loss of human lives is regretted and protection of human lives is the responsibility of all humankind and must be given the highest priority. All civilized nations and individuals must take appropriate measures to protect human lives in any part of the earth. The international community is urged to raise their voice.

It is time to face natural disasters collectively, no single country is not capable to handle some of the severe disasters, and collectively, we may overcome them. Scientists and technologists are appealing to address the issues of natural disasters and must prevent human-made disasters. Irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, etc., everyone is urged to protect human lives and disasters. We should devote ourselves to serving humankind and keep struggling with the socio-economic development of humankind. We should not be limited to certain communities, nations, countries, or religions, but, address humankind.

Availing this opportunity, I would like to appeal to everyone to extend a helping hand to earthquake victims of Syria and Turkey generously.
