Ice 'flowers' bloom on frozen salt lake in N China

Pointy, icy and utterly beautiful. Crystal "flowers" are seen blooming on the Yuncheng Salt Lake in Yuncheng City, north China's Shanxi Province thanks to the cold weather in the region.

It's a special phenomenon during which crystals of sodium chloride, or salt, form as a result of the crystallization of magnesium sulfate.
