Twenty-nine giant carnivals are planned in Honk Hong on July 1, the day of the

16th Anniversary of its reunification with China

, hoping to attract an audience of 100,000.

Hosted by Hong Kong Celebrations Association (HKCA), the carnival celebration aims to share with the public the joy on this special occasion.

Different from former July 1 celebrations, this year's event will take place in 29 areas in the city. "We hope to further enhance social participation and increase national consciousness of the home country," said Cheng Yiu-tong, Executive Chairman of HKCA.

He estimates that the event, which costs approximately four to five millions, will attract nearly 100,000 local residents.

The carnivals will begin with students' singing and dancing performances at 11:30 am on July 1, followed by a flag raising ceremony and an opening ceremony in Tamar Park.

A grand dancing and singing gala co-hosted by Inner Mongolia, one of Chinese autonomous regions, will also be staged on July 1. About 200 pictures will be displayed in an exhibition entitled "Beautiful Inner Mongolia", distinguished by its prairie, forest, desert and lakes.

In addition, various products will be on sale with at least 20% discounts, which isone of the celebrating events organized by business sectors on that day.
