The Egyptian Health Ministry announced in a statement on Thursday the death of six Egyptians of COVID-19, raising the death toll of the novel coronavirus in the country to 58.

As many as 86 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Egypt on Thursday, increasing the number of discovered infections among locals and foreigners since mid-February to 865, said the ministry's spokesman Khaled Megahed in the statement.

He added that "201 cases were cured and discharged from the isolation hospital."

"The number of cases whose tests turned from positive to negative for the novel coronavirus COVID-19 rose to 282, including the 201 cured cases," Megahed pointed out.

Egypt's 58 deaths of COVID-19 include 51 Egyptians and 7 foreigners, all aged between 44 and 84.

Earlier on Thursday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that Egypt is still far from the stage of massive virus outbreak, yet he warned that the daily infections are expected to be higher throughout the next week.

He noted in a press conference that the Health Ministry prepared 1,000 fully equipped vehicles as mobile clinics to screen and provide medical care to workers at factories and construction sites nationwide.

Egypt is currently in the middle of a two-week partial curfew from early evening to early morning as a key part of the anti-COVID-19 precautionary measures.
