Hong Kong on Friday reported two more confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 106.
The first case involved a 56-year-old businessman, who travelled to London and Paris during the incubation period. It was very likely an imported case, head of the Communicable Disease Branch of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a press conference.
The second new case involved an 85-year-old man, who was in the same tour group to India with a 69-year-old woman who had been confirmed on Wednesday.
Chuang also said it was learned that a COVID-19 patient in Thailand, confirmed and hosptitalized on Monday, visited Hong Kong on Feb. 29. All people who had close contact with the patient will now be required to undergo quarantine, he said.
Among all the confirmed cases in Hong Kong, 24 are imported, with 13 from the mainland, 10 from the "Diamond Princess" cruise ship, and one from India. Meanwhile 84 cases of the total 106 are cluster cases, with 18 of them linked to the contagion-hit buddhist temple and 13 to a family who shared hotpot in a party room, according to Under Secretary for Food and Health Chui Tak-yi.
Of all the 106 confirmed cases, two have passed away, 51 have been discharged from the hospital, while the rest remain hospitalized.
