Vietnamese legislature endorses socio-economic targets for 2015

Vietnamese legislature on Monday passed, with an approval vote of 89.54 percent, a resolution on socio-economic development plan for 2015 at the ongoing eighth session of the 13th National Assembly (NA).

Among the key socio-economic development indicators, the resolution sets the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in 2015 at 6.2 percent and Consumer Price Index (CPI) rise at 5 percent

In 2015, the country's total export revenue is set to grow by 10 percent while trade surplus is expected to stay at around 5 percent, and social development investment capital will account for 30-32 percent of GDP, according to the resolution.

The proportion of poor households will be reduced by 1.7-2 percent, 1.6 million jobs will be created, unemployment rate in urban areas will be decreased to under 4 percent, trained laborers will make up 50 percent of the country's total number of laborers.

Vietnam's economic growth in 2014 is estimated to reach the target of 5.8 percent. Earlier in 2013, the country saw an economic growth of 5.42 percent over the previous year.

Also on Monday, the NA approved a resolution on state budget estimation for 2015, with 88.13 percent of NA deputies voting for the resolution.

The rate of state budget overspending in 2015 is set at 5 percent of the country's GDP, lower than the rate of 5.3 percent set for 2014. Enditem
