'Hi, Mom' continues domination of China box office chart

Domestic comedy Hi, Mom dominated the Chinese mainland box office chart for the 19th straight day on Friday, raking in 33.15 million yuan (around 5.1 million U.S. dollars), according to figures from the China Movie Data Information Network.

The film, telling the story of a young woman, in deep grief at her mother's death in a car accident, traveling back in time to meet her mom in 1981 and form a friendship together, has garnered close to 4.98 billion yuan in 22 days of screening, and is expected to overtake the 2019 fantasy adventure animation hit Ne Zha to become the second highest-grossing film ever screened in China on the weekend.

Coming in the second was comedy-drama Endgame, finishing the day with over 16.7 million yuan.

Comedy Detective Chinatown 3 remained third with a daily earning of 11.8 million yuan.
