Shanghai reported five imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and zero increase in locally transmitted COVID-19 case on Thursday, the municipal health commission said Friday. The confirmed cases were all Chinese nationals returning to Shanghai from Brazil and the United States, who have been sent to a designated medical institution for treatment. A total of 126 people in close contact with the confirmed patients on the flight have been put under quarantine.
The municipal health commission said a total of 313 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Thursday. Among them, 45 patients remain in hospital for treatment with two of them in critical condition.
On Thursday, no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported. The municipality had reported 339 locally transmitted confirmed cases by Thursday, including seven deaths.
