Cuba formally appoints new leader

In Havana, Raul Castro resigned as Communist Party First Secretary.

And, Miguel Diaz-Canel, who succeeded Castro as President in 2018, now succeeds him as Party chief.

It took place at the 8th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party.
