New Delhi, August 26(APD) -- Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on the side-lines of G7 summit in Biarritz, France.
Earlier, Modi met Boris Johnson, his British counterpart on Sunday the day he arrived in France.
During Modi’s meeting with the British Prime Minister, his office tweeted, “Prime Minister Modi begins by congratulating PM Johnson on England’s spectacular win in the Third Test of the Ashes a short while ago. The two leaders are discussing ways to strengthen India-Uk cooperation.”
While, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar further informed through twitter, “PM Narendra Modi had a good meeting with UK PM Boris Johnson on margins of G7 summit. Discussions focused on strengthening our bilateral ties going forward, inter alia, in trade & investment, defence & security, Science and Technology and education sectors.”
The Indian Prime Minister is attending the G7 summit as a special invitee in spite of India not being a member of the group. He has been invited by the French President Emmanuel Macron and will be speaking on significant global issues like environment, climate and digital changes in the world.
It is a three-nation tour for Modi, as before reaching France, he visited the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
On the side lines of the summit, the issue of Kashmir is also expected to be discussed. Earlier, Trump had shared his intention to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Modi, which has been tense after the Indian government scrapped the special status of the region and imposed a curfew in early August.
