Myanmar president meets Indian FM, vowing to promote bilateral trade ties

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw met with visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushama Swaraj at the Presidential Palace here Monday evening, vowing to promote bilateral trade ties.

Their talks focused on promotion of bilateral trade ties, cooperation in transport, health and energy sectors.

The Indian side offered to provide technical assistance to Myanmar peas and pulses farmers.

Earlier in the day, Myanmar State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi also met with Swaraj and the pair had discussions on matters related to cooperation in the sectors of education, health and trade.

Swaraj's Myanmar visit came more than two months after a visit to the country by Ajit Doval, advisor for the National Security of India as special envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra in June.
