BERLIN, Sept. 27 (APD) - European Union (EU) President Jean-Claude Juncker said that Britain must take responsibility should the Brexit ends up with a no-deal scheme.
Junker said that it would be a catastrophe for Britain and Europe if Britain left the EU without an organized withdrawal process.
In an interview with a German newspaper, Juncker said that he and EU’s Brexit negotiator chief Michael Barnier have been doing they could to make the Brexit done with deals.
“Our chief negotiator Michel Barnier and I are doing everything possible to get an agreement. But if we don’t succeed in the end, the responsibility would lie exclusively on the British side,” Juncker told the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper recently.
Among the serious problems should Britain opt to take no-deal Brexit is in the EU- Britain future trade, he said.
Despite facing enormous opposition from the parliament Britain Prime Minister Boris Johnson was adamant with his no-deal Brexit plans scheduled on October 31.
EU officials said Johnson has made little progress in negotiation of new deal to replace the Brexit agreement packages approved by Johnson’s predecessor Theresa May, which was three times rejected by the British parliament.
