Malaysian lawmakers on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution censuring Israel's assault on Gaza, which raged for almost a week and left as many as 109 people dead.

The resolution, which was introduced by prime minister Najib Razak, condemned Israel's attack as a violation of international rights law, an unjustified brutality and a crime against humanity that breached the Fourth Geneva Convention 1949 on the protection of civilians in time of war.

It offered solidarity to the Palestinians and urged them to unite to achieve becoming an independent country.

It also urged the Arab League and international Islamic groups to take "concrete action" against the attack and the UN Security Council to compel Israel to cease its attack on Gaza and deploy a peacekeeping force there.

Minister in the prime minister office Nazri Aziz tabled the resolution on behalf of Najib, who is in Cambodia for the ASEAN Summit.

The emergency resolution at the lower house of the parliament came after the UN Security Council hit a deadlock with the U.S. - a close ally of Israelrefusing to adopt a statement on the Gaza clashes on grounds that it undermines efforts to reach a ceasefire.

The Israeli government and Palestinian militants showed no signs for restraint and escalated their lethal conflict over Gaza.

Israel strikes on Monday killed 32 Palestinians and hit a Gaza City tower housing Palestinian and international media, making it the bloodiest day so far.

Three Israelis were killed by rockets fired from Gaza.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is in Cairo to try to mediate a peace talk for a ceasefire.

The resolution would be delivered to the U.S. congress, British parliament and European parliament, secretary general of UN and UN Security Council.
