France strongly condemned the shelling of a French school in the Syrian capital of Damascus, Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Fabius said on Sunday, adding that no casualties have been reported.
In a statement posted on the Quai d'Orsay website, Fabius "strongly condemns this cowardly act that would cause the death of young children," as many "kids were inside," when a shell landed during the attack.
"Civilians are the first victims of the conflict in Syria for several years. The cycle of violence must stop," he added.
An unprecedented anti-government protest erupted in Syria more than two years ago and plunged the country into a prolonged conflict that left more than 100,000 deaths and forced millions of others to flee to neighbor countries.
