WHO launches initiative to share COVID-19 drugs, tests and vaccines

World Health Organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday announced the launch of a joint initiative to speed up development of drugs, tests and vaccines to prevent, diagnose and treat COVID-19.

"We are all doing great work but we cannot do it all alone," Tedros said at a media briefing in Geneva which was also joined by French President EmmanuelMacron, and European Commission President Ursula von derLeyen among other leaders.

According to the WHO, the initiative aims to make technologies against the disease caused by the novel coronavirus "accessible to everyone who needs them, worldwide."
