Death toll rises to six in coal mine blast in central Myanmar

Four more bodies were uncovered from Monday's coal mine blast in Minbu, Myanmar's central Magway region, bringing the total death toll to six, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.

The accident happened after a pipe used for injecting oxygen into the tunnel of the mine exploded.

The blast, which took place at a depth of 45 to 90 meters of the tunnel of the mine, also injured four and trapped eight in the mine.

The injured were sent to the hospital and rescue operation is underway to save the trapped miners, including a Chinese national, according to the report.
