As Brazil`s COVID-19 death toll continues to climb at an alarming rate, so does the number of the country's healthcare workers who have sacrificed their lives fighting the pandemic.

Surveys among health care professionals show around 1,200 Brazilian doctors, nurses and medical staff died from the disease in 2020. That is one death every seven and-a-half hours, and health officials are alarmed.
