APD | Philippine will import mango from Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, May 21 (APD) - The Philippines is to export dried mango product from Cambodia to the Philippines and foreign markets after the quality is tested proved a good result for export.

Chrisopher Baltazar MONTERO, outgoing ambassador of the Philippines to Cambodia said recently in a meeting to Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon.

“Currently, the Philippines company is investing in processing dried mango products in Prey Veng province for exporting to markets in the Philippines and international markets,” Mr Montero said.

Mr Sakhon asked the Philippines for further cooperation on agricultural sector. He said he hoped that the cooperation will be strengthened widely, particularly the experience exchange on mango processing, rice processing, and banana.

Once completion which scheduled in 2019, the factory can produce some 4,000 tons of dried mango products.

Currently, Cambodia through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries is in talk with China to export fresh mango directly to China market.

Cambodia exports officially mango fruits to France and Russia by local Kingdom Fruit International, a subsidiary of Mong Reththy Group. Figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, last year, about 204 tons of mango to the two countries.
