The last five impoverished counties in northeast China's Jilin Province have bid farewell to poverty, according to a notice issued by the provincial government Saturday.

The counties of Wangqing, Tongyu, Jingyu and Antu and the county-level city of Da'an have met the standards and have been approved to be removed from the list of poverty-stricken counties, a feat achieved by all eight impoverished counties in the province.

Zhenlai County and the county-level cities of Helong and Longjing cast off poverty in April last year.

The province will continue to adopt targeted poverty alleviation measures to lift all remaining impoverished residents out of poverty and prevent people from returning to poverty.
