DOHA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced its plan to launch new representative offices in India and Russia within two months, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Sunday.
The move suggests that Qatar is tapping into large tourist markets, said Rashed al-Quraisi, the head of Marketing and Promotion at the QTA, in a press release Sunday.
The launching of the offices comes as QTA is bidding for main achievements of the new phase of the tourism national strategy, as well as boosting the tourism sector, the report said.
The Qatari tourism national plan, which has been launched in September, aims to build up the world's interest in Qatar and to increase the number of representative offices that are promoting Qatar as a tourist destination.
Qatar recently has launched nine promotional offices around the world, in addition to the opening of 260 global promotional campaigns, al-Quraisi added.
Qatar has waived free entry visa requirements for citizens of India and Russia along with 80 other countries, which means that they're exempted from entry visa to Qatar, and a multi-entry waiver is issued to them free-of-charge at the port on arrival.
