At least 10 killed in coach collision in central Vietnam

At least 10 people were killed and dozens of others injured in a coach collision in Vietnam's central Binh Thuan province early Monday.

The accident happened at around 2.30 a.m. local time on Monday in Ham Minh commune, South Ham Thuan district of Binh Thuan province, 1,150 km south of capital Hanoi, killing 10 people on the spot and injuring dozens of others, said Le Vinh Chi, chairman of the commune's people committee, quoted by local VNExpressas.

The first coach, having a code number of the Binh Thuan province, was on its way from the province's Phan Thiet City to southern Ho Chi Minh City, when it collided with another passenger coach running from the opposite direction.

The crash threw the Binh Thuan-coded coach off the road, damaging some local residents' houses before it stopped, while the other coach had its front tires broken. Both coaches were heavily damaged, and the two drivers were dead.

The injured have been rushed to hospital, said the official.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
