Though the majority of Democrats who watched the first Democratic primary debate said Hillary Clinton clinched the victory, that win hadn't been translated into a bounce in the numbers of support for her, a national poll said Monday.

Clinton's post-debate support rate remained at 45 percent in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination even as more than 62 percent of registered Democrats who saw last week's debate said she did the best job, according to the CNN/ORC poll.

Senator Bernie Sanders continued to trail Clinton with 29 percent of support, but he was the only Democratic candidate who enjoyed a rise in support after the first primary debate. His poll numbers rose by 5 points.

Although Vice President Joe Biden had yet to announce his decision on a candidacy, he was currently having 18 percent support.

None of the other three Democratic candidates had more than 1 percent of support.

As Biden is still considering whether or not to launch his own White House bid, the poll found that fewer Democrats are supportive of a Biden candidacy.

In August, 53 percent of Democrats said they wanted Biden to run. The ratio has now slipped to 47 percent.

If Biden decides not to run, the poll found that Clinton's lead over Sanders would climb to 23 percent.
