Russian COVID-19 cases grow to 362,342

Russia has confirmed 8,915 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising its total number of infections to 362,342, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Tuesday.

The death toll increased by 174 to 3,807, while 131,129 people have recovered, including a record of 12,331 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.

Moscow, the country's worst-hit region, confirmed 2,830 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total to 169,303.

Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said in a statement Tuesday that 292,083 people were under medical observation as of Monday.

More than 9.1 million lab tests for COVID-19 have been conducted across the country so far, it added.

On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was discharged from the hospital where he was treated for the COVID-19 infection.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov and Construction Minister Vladimir Yakushev have already recovered from the novel coronavirus.
