Afro-Colombian activist works to lift of Black community

​It's hard to know the true number of Blacks who live in Colombia.

Data over the years have shown descendants from Africa make up anywhere between 6-25 percent of the population.

Part of the problem is poor accounting by government census takers. Afro-Colombians see the exclusion as yet another example of racism, calling the undercount 'statistical genocide.' ​

What is clear is that this minority group faces disproportionate levels of poverty and social exclusion.
