BlackBerry has returned to Korea with a new Android smartphone three years after it left the market.

The Canadian smartphone maker was once an industry leader before being overtaken by Apple and Samsung.

In a press briefing in Seoul on Tuesday, the company said it rolled out the Priv, its first smartphone running on Android, in order to gain back its customers who moved to other phones because its previous devices did not support sufficient applications. Previously, BlackBerry used its own operating system.

The new model also features a curved display similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge. But BlackBerry's identity has been retained with its signature QWERTY keyboard underneath the screen.
