A bomb containing around 1 kg of explosive was neutralized by police outside a branch of Deutsche Bank in Italy's Naples on Monday, local reports said.

According to Il Mattino, a newspaper based in the southern city, disposal experts said the hand-made bomb had been lit but went out before it could spark a big blast.

The bomb reportedly had a cylindrical shape and was 22 cm long. It could not be activated remotely and was neutralized with the help of a small water cannon.

The area surrounding the bank branch was evacuated by police forces and an investigation has started, Il Mattino said. Enditem
