S. African gov't releases names of victims in xenophobic attacks

The South African government on Tuesday released the names of seven victims in the latest spate of xenophobia violence that hit parts of the country.

The victims included four foreign nationals and three South Africans, Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe said at a press briefing in Pretoria.

The foreign nationals were Marcus Natas, an Ethiopian; Muvo (other details unknown), a Zimbabwean; Dava Sabastio, a Mozambican and Shaofic Shaof Ul Alam, a Bangladeshi.

The three South Africans were Thabo Owen Mzobe, Ayanda Dlamini and Petros Dlamini.

Radebe said the preliminary investigation reveals that the death of Mozambican citizen Emmanuel Jossias, also known as Emmanuel Sithole, related to an act of criminality and is therefore not included in the table above.

Sithole was stabbed to death in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg during the cause of the xenophobia attacks. The stabbing, which was videoed, caused worldwide condemnation after the video went viral on the internet. Enditem
