Arlanda International Airport in Stockholm received a bomb threat for a flight to Baghdad before take-off, causing part of the airport to be closed, local media reported on Wednesday.

The bomb threat to the Iraq Airways flight was received by the airport at lunch time. No further details as to the specific nature of the threat and how it came to the airport were released by the Swedish police, Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter said.

A witness on the scene said passengers and bags were evacuated after the threat. The area was sealed off as police described the threat as "serious."

Police are conducting investigations at the airport.
