Hong Kong to seek public opinions on LegCo election arrangements

The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Monday released the proposed guidelines on Legislative Council (LegCo) election-related activities and put forth recommendations on electoral arrangements in the guidelines to seek public opinions.

According to EAC Chairman Fung Wah, the proposed guidelines were revised on the basis of the existing guidelines on LegCo general election of the June, 2016 version.

The revisions involved arrangements for queuing at polling stations, checking of personal entry on the copy of register by electors, order at public area of counting stations and enhance of the public's knowledge on the polling arrangements, said Fung.

Starting from March 9, the public consultation period for the upcoming LegCo general election will last for 30 days until April 7.

The 2020 Legislative Council General Election will be held in the third quarter of this year.
