Chinese doctor's diary on fighting coronavirus has English version

The English version of a Chinese doctor's diary on the battle against coronavirus has been on pre-sale, offering a window for international readers to know China's experience and spirit in fighting the pandemic.

The book "Dr. Zha's Diary of fighting the COVID-19" is written by Zha Qiongfang, a respiratory physician at Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. She was among Shanghai's first batch of a medical team dispatched to aid Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, after the epidemic outbreak, and recorded her first-hand anti-epidemic experience in 68 days.

"When I wrote the first diary during the aid mission, I just want to record what I saw, did, and thought in the frontline, and tell my friends to assure them. But when my 67 dairies were composed into a book, I want people to know how Chinese people were united to face the epidemic and basically controlled it in around three months," said Zha.

Since the publishing of the book's Chinese version on April 20, many well-known international publishers expressed their willingness to publish the book in other languages, said Li Dan, assistant president of Shanghai Jiaotong University Press, the publisher of the book.

Naturalogic, a Canadian academic publisher excelling in technology and medicine, eventually won the English copyright.

"'Dr. Zha's Diary of fighting the COVID-19' tells us that all mankind must unite to fight COVID-19 and contain the spread of the virus. We should learn from Chinese people the spirits of cooperation, courage, and enthusiasm, and work hard to overcome the pandemic," said Peter Gaviorno, president of Naturalogic Publishing House.

"The book will encourage more doctors to save lives. The entire world will be inspired by the valor Dr. Zha presented," said an international publisher Mohan Krishan Kalsi.

The copyrights of the book's Vietnamese, Thai, and Hindi versions have been exported, and the copyrights of its Japanese and Russian versions are under negotiation.
