BIMSTEC: Senior officials' meeting today

KATHMANDU, Aug 28 (APD)-- A meeting of the senior officials, including the Foreign Secretaries, of the member countries of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is taking place here today in preparation for the regional group's 4th Summit conference.

The BIMSTEC 4th summit is taking place in Kathmandu on 30-31 August. This meeting will be the 19th meeting of the BIMSTEC Senior Officials.

The Foreign or External Affairs Secretaries will hold informal discussions on the agenda and will also deliberate on the key topics of the Summit meeting, the thematic issues to be recommended as well as review the earlier achievements and make an assessment of the progress so far, according to Joint Spokesman at the Ministry, Ram Babu Dhakal.

The meeting of the senior officials will present a report with recommendations to the ministerial meeting. The meeting of the ministers on August 29 will discuss on these recommendations.
