Eight Taliban militants including two commanders have been detained and four others were killed as security forces stormed Taliban hideouts in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province on Tuesday, Interior Ministry said.

"The special forces of national police launched cleanup operations in Dahnai Ghori district early Tuesday morning and so far eight militants including two commanders, namely Mullah Ghayor and Mullah Janan have been captured and four others were killed," a statement of Interior Ministry released here said.

Describing the arrested commanders as notorious, the statement said that these people had been involved in organizing roadside bombings and attacking government interests and their arrest would lead to security improvement in Baghlan and adjoining areas.

Dahnai Ghori has been regarded as a Taliban stronghold in the relatively peaceful Baghlan province.
