Explosion causes chemical emergency in Spain

A massive explosion at a petrochemical plant in northeast Spain created a giant mushroom cloud and forced officials to issue an emergency alert on Tuesday.

Local reports say there are serious injuries and two people remain missing.

Nearby residents were warned to stay inside.

Regional emergency officials say the explosion happened near the port city of Tarragona, about 115 kilometers southwest of Barcelona.

They are calling it a "chemical accident" and advised residents to close windows.
