BRUSSELS, June 13 (Xinhua) --The following are the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in European countries.

ROME -- Italy recorded a further 55 COVID-19 deaths in a 24-hour period on Saturday, taking the death toll since the pandemic began to 34,301, and also 346 new cases of infection from the novel coronavirus, but total active infections decreased to 27,485, down from 28,997 a day ago, officials said Saturday.

The overall number of COVID-19 infections, fatalities, and recoveries rose to 236,651 cases over the past 24 hours, against a total of 236,305 cases on Friday.

LONDON-- Another 181 COVID-19 patients have died in Britain as of Friday afternoon, bringing the total coronavirus-related death toll in the country to 41,662, the British Department of Health and Social Care said Saturday.

As of Saturday morning, 294,375 people have tested positive in Britain, a daily increase of 1,425, according to the department.

PARIS -- France registered 29,398 coronavirus-linked fatalities as of Saturday as further 24 patients died in one day, slower than 28 deaths recorded a day before, while hospitalization-related data continued to decline, figures released by the National Public Health Agency showed.

Some 10,909 people remain hospitalized for coronavirus infection, compared with 11,124 recorded on Friday. Patients needed to be put on ventilator dropped by 8 to 871. In total, 156,813 people have caught the COVID-19 as 526 cases were confirmed positive on Saturday, down from Friday's 726.
