China willing to meet global demand for rare earths

Besides giving priority to the domestic needs for rare earths resources, China is willing to meet global demand for rare earths for the benefit of people around the world, said an official of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Tuesday.

Strengthening the exploitation of rare earths will have a positiveeffect on Chinese and world economic development, allowing for the fact that rare earths resources are in great demand in many developed countries.

As the world's largest supplier of rare earths, China has always adhered to the principle of openness, coordination and sharing to promote the development of the rare earths industry.

When asked whether the rare earths will be wielded as China's countermeasure against the United States in the current trade war, the official stressed that whoever capitalizes on the products made from China's rare earths to curb the development of China will for sure offend the Chinese people.
