South Korean actor Kim Rae-won on Monday apologized for posting a photo of Hollywood movie "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," supposedly taken while watching it at a theater, on a social media site.

"We deeply apologize regarding the controversy relating to Kim Rae-won posting a photo after watching the movie," HB Entertainment said in a statement.

The company added, "Kim is also genuinely reflecting upon himself after realizing that he did wrong. He will be more cautious in the future."

Kim, who recently starred in "The Prison" along with Han Suk-kyu, on Sunday uploaded a photo of the Marvel superhero film, apparently taken at a screening in South Korea, on his Instagram account. After being accused by other users of the photo-sharing service of copyright infringement, the 36-year-old star later made his account private.

"Guardians 2" opened at the South Korean box office earlier this month. It has sold over 800,000 tickets so far.
