The China Data Center Standard Alliance (CDCSA) launched Wednesday in Beijing to push for synchronization with the world standard. The CDCSA is the first standardization alliance in China and has currently more than 30 enterprises and organizations as member units.

The CDCSA is established under the China Information Technology Industry Federation (CITIF). By cooperating with Uptime Institute, the international standard authority for data centers, the alliance will merge advanced data center systems with the status quo of the industry in China, to make the country a strong competitor in the global market, CCTV reported.

"The data center industry in China has been growing rapidly since 2010," Qu Weizhi, vice president of CITIF, said during the launch. "The market size doubled almost every two years. The total market was at around 72.9 billion yuan (11 billion US dollars) with a year-on-year growth of 40.4 percent."

Data centers in China covered an area of 3.25 million square meters in 2016, counted as one-fourth of the global market, and they are important parts of many areas such as finance, transportation and public safety.

However, due to the disparate development of regions in the country, and the lack standardization, there is still a big gap between China and the world-leading data centers, said Chinanews.com.

Gao Sumei, president of CDCSA, said during the launch that the alliance will speed up the construction of the standard system for data center in the country by working with related organizations and institutes, and will boost communications among Chinese data centers and the synchronization with world standard.
